rapids police officers hurt after an early morning crash. kwwl's taylor bailey sits down with a witness -- explaining what he saw. police lights flashing near exit on 3-80 in cedar rapids -- during a two car crash "she was coming around the bend and she never really turned right for the bend and then realized it at the last minute she wasn't turning and going to hit the gardral and over corrected it and just shot herself directly into the police when matt langguth and out the back window and i couldn't get it to break so i had the police officer come over and break out the back window and i climbed in the back seat and the two officers that were injured in the crash were responding to another accident when they were hit from

over on its passengers side end was smashed in" matt says--he checked on the police officers who seemed okay...next he checked the two victims. "it was really hectic at first like trying to get everything under control and figure out what just happened and figure out if everyone was okay or not and gone" both matt and his girlfriend saying the scene was horrific-- "you don't really respect life until you witness it happening right infront of your eyes" in cedar rapids...taylor bailey...news seven...kwwl the police offiers invovled in the crash were treated for non-life threatening injures. the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

news, new york. president-elect donald trump taking to twitter this morning to react to the news of the death of former cuban president fidel castro. he reacted with four words -- fidel castro is dead. mister trump later released a statement calling castro a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades. economic relations. would you open a trump hotel in havana?" showing their support for law enforcement officers working the dakota access pipeline protests. more than 400 people marched across the liberty memorial bridge for the back the blue rally. organizers called for people to pray and march for law enforcement involved in pipeline protests. organizers say the rally was not "anti" or "pro" pipeline. they say it was an effort to unite three dogs saved from a burning dogs from a home and gave them oxygen. a dozen firefighters surrounded the small dogs -- working on them -- and giving them water. we're told they're doing well. investigators are looking into what caused the fire. a hillary clinton campaign spokesperson says they will take part in efforts to push for recounts in several key states. clinton's team says they investigated every theory presented and examined laws and practices pertaining to recounts, contests and audits.

investigating accusations for a while and had received hundreds of requests to do so. the campaign will now join green party candidate jill stein who has raised millions of dollars to have votes counted again in rabbi emeritus stanley rosenbaum died this morning in waterloo. here's a look at the rabbi from back in 2008. according to the haggarty funeral home director -- services are now pending. the black hawk county medical examiner says the cause of death rabbi rosenbaum stepped down from the pulpit at sons of jacob synogogue back in 20-14 to become rabbi emeritus. west virgina to end the regular season. the cyclones are seeking their third straight victory----and bring a positive close to matt campbell's first year as head coach. the crowd is pumped on senior day at jack trice stadium.. west virginia making some big plays early--- mountaineer quarterback skylar howard launches one deep and shelton gibson lays out to make a up a west virginia touchdown and a 14-3 lead. but the cyclones' kene n-wang-wu fields the ensuing kick at his own three---finds a seam ---and he is going to sprint 97 yards for the score---iowa state is going to pull within 14- 10--with the third longest kick return in cyclone history... but it's not a happy senior day in ames---

and rolls to a 49-19 victory. former iowa state offensive coordinator tom herman appears to headed to become the next head coach of the texas longhorns. texas officially fired head coach charlie strong after three losing seasons... now it is being reported that texas is negotiating with tom herman to become the longhorns head coach. herman is currently the houston coordinator for ohio state. today the second ranked buckeyes host third ranked michigan for a spot in the college football playoffs.. michigan led most of the game..khalid hill's second touchdown of the game gives the wolverines a 17-7 third quarter lead. ohio state rallies to send this game to overtime....and in the extra overtime period with michigan leading

for the game winner...ohio state stops michigan 30-27 in double overtime... with the buckeyes winning---penn state can clinch the big ten east title with a win over michigan state... nittany lion quarterback trace mcsorley threw for 376 yards and four touchdowns as the eighth ranked nittany lions race by the spartans 45- 12 and into the big ten championship game. fourth quarter touchdowns from corey clement--- and the badgers rally to beat minnesota 31-17 to win paul bunyan's axe and the big ten west title...wisconsin will play penn state next saturday in indianapolis. the iowa hawkeyes officially finish in a tie for second in the big ten west---after thrashing the 16th ranked nebraska cornhuskers 40-10 yesterday at kinncik stadium.

winning their third straight game and salvaging a season that looked in ruins three weekes ago following a devastating loss at penn state. but iowa did regain its balance and responded with a big win over number three michigan---and ending with victories at illinois and over nebraska. the hawkeyes aren't exactly sure wish bowl game is on the horizon..but they look forward to playing one more time together. take sot after the loss to penn state--we could have either thrown in the fight and resieliency this team has--like i said getting kicked in the mouth at penn state and come back playing three tough teams and win all three of those games--you know a lot is said about a team about you play in november and we are 3-1 in november which means we finished the season very strong. just kind of upset at ourselves--cause we knew exactly what we were capable of..eventually when you have a

you can go up or down and thankfully we went up. the hawkeyes will find out their bowl destination a week from sunday and today in the second round of the division three football playoffs....coe falls to st. thomas 55-6.... it is the first loss of the seasor one under first year head coach tyler staker. in college basketball today--the northern iowa panthers in a rematch of a game played six days ago against 9th ranked xavier. the muskateers red hot--off the inbounds pass--easy dunk for sean o'mara....later its edmond sumner with the jam off the steal-- xavier leads 35-12 at the break..
