the hosptial in serious condition.... after a crash around 8 this morning on highway 63 about 3 the sheriff's office says a car tried to pass a semi... lost control and hit a truck going the other way. authorities say both a man in the car and a man in the truck were taken to the hospital. the names of those two men have not yet been released. hudson fire and police... along with state patrol and the black haw on scene.. a helicopter flew in... but no one was air- lifted to the hospital. live.. amanda gilbert.. news 7 kwwl. thank you amanda, stay with kwwl as this story we also know of an accident in east dubuque. police say the julien dubuque bridge back open after a 5-vehicle crash on the bridge. at this point, we're unsure about the extent of any damage.

it happened early this morning on highway 20. according to the black hawk county sheriff's office -- someone hit the officer's squad car. we also talked to the waterloo fire chief -- he says no one got hurt. seatbelts save lives. over the weekend -- cedar rapids police officers responded to this crash on i-380. their s-u-v got hit when another driver lost control. the people in that car died. the officers had to be taken to the hospital. they've since been released. the department posted these on facebook... saying they quote "have two police officers alive today because they had their seatbelts on" they're encouraging others to take time to buckle up every time you're in a car. a plane carrying a soccer team from brazil crashes this morning. 81 people were on the flight that went down in colombia. we're now getting reports saying 6 people survived -- everyone else died in that crash. the team was on its way

had been hit hard by heavy rain and thunderstorms. wildfires are forcing people out of their homes -- and also away from a popular tourist spot. there are at least 14 fires burning around gatlinburg, tennessee. roughly 100 homes have been damaged. several roads and trails through great smoky mountain national park have been closed. wind gusts keep bringing down trees -- which is helping the they'll ever know the cause of a thanksgiving day fire. iowa gold distributing destroyed in the fire -- and investigators say there's so much damage they don't think they'll be able to find the cause. the oil recycling business burned for several hours thursday before it was able to be controlled -- even injuring a fire fighter. he was treated and released from the hospital. digging deeper -- some eastern iowa firefighters

severe weather rolled through eastern iowa yesterday. this video was sent to us from a viewer near parkersburg, with a funnel forming above butler county. butler county emergency management says -- fortunately -- the county escaped with very little damage. some roof damage, a small shed blown off its foundation and some tree limbs down. more video -- this out of grundy center. there were at least six reports of tornadoes yesterday in iowa. it's unusual for this time of year... but certainly has iowa during the month of november since 1980. the storms also brought hail -- here are a few pictures of the build-up sent to us from the parkersburg area. coming up if you have the golden can you're golden to attend the super bowl for years! and, a recall dehumidifier is in place again due to people ignoring it.

driver crashes into a building...startling the people inside. kwwl's shirley descorbeth is live in east dubuque with more. this happened just after 7:30 this morning. an suv stricking the door, here at driver crashed into the front door here...shattering the glass, and breaking off some police tell me a woman was driving down montgomery ave...when her brakes went out. she ended up crossing both lanes of traffic here...then crashing into mulgrew's. i'm told about seven people were inside...some having breakfast. a man who lives right above the business heard the crash. he tells me it sounded like a cannon went off... it actually woke him out of shaken. and seemed to have some

as for those who were inside...none of them injured. but some of the glass from the door -- did hit them. in east dubuque -- shirley descorbeth, news 7 kwwl. the owners of mulgrew's say the back door. students are back in class today at ohio state after several were attacked yesterday... emergency? caller: hi, i'm at ohio state, right outside of watts hall and there is a guy who crashed his car into a bunch of people and ran out with a knife chasing down people." 11 were hurt -- including one person who has critical injuries. the attacker -- an ohio state student -- posted a rant before he plowed his car into a crowd. he wrote on what appears to be his facebook page -- that he reached a boiling point -- and made a reference to a lone wolf attack. investigators are looking into

chief craig stone, osu police: he exited the vehicle and used a butcher knife to start cutting (nats) the guy ran a car through a crowd of students, he did it purposely. (nats) i'm at ohio state right a knife. (nats) we need an ambulance here fast. a minute into the attack o-s-u police officer alan horujko arrived on the scene -- confronting a knife wielding artan -- shooting him three times -- killing him. monica moll, dir. publet the officer engaged the suspect and fired shots and used deadly force to stop the threat. 11 people wounded in the attack. all are expected to survive. as the attack unfolded, students barricaded doorways to avoid becoming a victim. the campus on lock down for an hour and a half. gov. john kasich, (r) ohio: ohio state will be stronger

a prayer vigil held on campus last night. eleven people got hurt, one critically. a campus officer shot the suspect. a passenger on a plane pulls open the emergency exit door and jumps out. it happened right as the plane landed in houston. in airport surveillance video, she can be seen running across the tarmac toward the terminal. shows the aftermath, and the missing door in the emergency row. it's still unclear why the woman jumped out of the plane. she's since been taken into custody. delta airlines bans a passenger for life -- after he was caught on video insulting fellow passengers who voted for hillary clinton. the cell phone video did not capture the events that led up to the incident. delta's c-e-o apologized monday... and offered refunds to customers on board. stuck in the snow for more than

rural mountains over the weekend. family members say they were when they sent a text that they were stuck in the snow. crews found them yesterday. marathon. dance marathon is a national movement involving over 300 colleges and universities. we raise money and awareness for children's miracle network hospitals and for the 48 miracle kiddos we support and in

so bright to deliver presents when they can deliver pizza. domino's in japan says it's training reindeer at a driving school to deliver pizza in one of japan's "if a reindeer runs properly, it can go as fast as 80 kilometers per hour. it's especially fast with snow shoes." yeah well if reindeer ever deliver pizza at 50 miles an hour, domino's should expect lawsuits. nats: ho ho grandma watch out! the trainers... seemed to be having trouble reining in their pizza delivery reindeer, which would be equipped with gps devices so customers can check on their progress.
