2:20 am
couldn't have anticipated we'd get a chance to actually do it, but, no, we would talk over the years and see each other. >> see each other at events, too. right? >> yeah. but still a lot of catching up to do. i mean, ten years. >> kelly, did you worry, it was such a magical time. did you think to yourself, wow, if we try to reboot this and it doesn't go over well, should have just left well enough alone? >> no. i'd been wanting to do this, i had been bri >> the original founder. >> we should do a movie. i was so jealous of "sex and the city." they got a movie! we want a movie. >> they got two actually. >> well, we've got four chapters. >> there you go. >> so, no, i was just so excited about it. >> and did get to finish it with amy. it always felt like we'd been left in midair, a little bit. >> yeah. >> a little weird. the way people watch tv now and

2:22 am
and is captivating people again today? what is it about it? >> oh, i think now it's particularly comforting, given the times we live in, but it always had this very comforting feel. the town that we live in is just a place where everyone supports each other and is kind. and helps each other out. that's something i think is just timeless, and you can always go back to it. >> those kind of communities still exist today. >> of course. >> when you live on the east coast, kind of hard to remember that exists in most of the country! >> yeah. >> and usually you need tension. like a horrible guy or somebody who everybody hates. that wasn't part of the drill of your show at all? >> it never was. our show was always about sparkly dialogue and people having the amount of joy. the loss of ed gave the story a little more weight this time, because we're all dealing with that, that loss in our own ways, and so i think it was perfect
2:23 am
it needed something a little more cinematic, and -- and something with a little more weight to it. >> when this ends, at the end of these episodes, if you binge watch and see the very end, is there a period on it or is there -- >> she wants the question. >> there is an ellipses. >> ellipses. >> dot, dot, dot. >> in the business 40 years what is that? oh, the dot, dot, dot, dot. oh, okay. >> we learned something new today. one question from our fans? we had a bunch of fans who wanted to ask a question. hear one? oh, they're on the card? oh. we're reading it. glasses. greg from sacramento wants to know if you had to play another character on the show, who would you want to play? >> oh, a different character. >> if you had to switch characters. >> emily. >> i mean -- >> emily. >> really? both of you? >> i couldn't do it. i'm too, like, ooh -- ooh!
2:24 am
>> yeah. >> i think we each kind of have a part that we're very right for, hard to switch. >> one more question, ray from arkansas asks, do you get to keep the outfits you wear? >> no. we give them back. >> do you want to keep them? >> some of them. lorelai and i wore some wacky stuff in this last one. >> thanks for coming in. >> thank you so much. >> so glad you made it. >> we love you alexis.
