been showing you in collegeville. you can see the snow starting to pick up there. but this is only the beginning. and if the storm hasn't reached your house just yet, it will get there very soon. >> let's go back to first alert chief meteorologist tammie souza with the latest. >> we are getting new snow totals and a new timeline. we are seeing this burst of snow but the main body of the system is to the south of us. soon it will wrap up this mild air over the atlantic ocean. we are going to see transitions back and forth tonight between snow and rain, unless you are up here in the pennsylvania suburbs, lehigh valley, berks county, that's where we will stay cold enough to see a mainly snow event. let's break it down for you. we go down here to cape may. look at the jersey shore, even some thunderstorms possible as all of this starts moving northward in our direction. but look at this. down there in cape may, we see a difference. we see snow coming onshore. look at that. quickly changing back to rain.
11:18 pm
morris river in the rain. we can see the whole thing moving northward and changing rapidly, minute by minute. you are going to see snow one minute, rain the next. in philadelphia, we have that urban heat island effect so we have more warmth in the pavement. we are still looking at rain across much of the area but quick bursts of snow taking place. warminster, some snow. limerick, still in rain at this point. westchester, one of the places we expect heavier snow for tomorrow. looking at snow now. hilton, snow, dover, snow. you can see all of this is making its way northward. our storm ranger, which is our capital x-band radar on wheels, it's out near coatesville, collegeville, and you can see, here's the rain. but look at coatesville. we have rain coming down so we get a good picture of what's going on. reading, even a mix for you in berks county. westchester looking at the snow. new morgan, looking at snow. warrington, some snow. norristown looking at big heavy
11:19 pm
flakes of snow. look at the temperature profile. we are starting to drop close to freezing but we will see the temperatures going up tomorrow morning as we wrapped in that warm air. this is key to it. if we are a couple of degrees above that freezing mark, we are still going to get that wet, sloppy snow. now, the highest risk of power outages is where we will see the swath of heaviest snow coming in. right now, we are going to be breaking this down for you. as we head into some of the suburbs, you can see westchester, phoenixville, chester, we could see power outages because of the heavy snow bringing down tree branches and also powerlines. as we head into the pennsylvania suburbs from philadelphia into montgomery county, look at this. abington, north town, richland. even parts of philadelphia included in this, and over into country lake and pemberton. then we headed out toward trenton and we could see some outages there. up into the lehigh valley. not quite as much.
11:20 pm
earlier it looked like the swath might be heavier. at this point, allentown is right on the edge up where we see the heaviest swath. this is where we are expecting to see the main body of power outages. now we are going neighborhood by neighborhood because it is very different across the area, what you are going to get and the timing. tonight, snow and rain as we head through philadelphia and delaware county. now, these totals are based on the fact that we are going to see a wet, heavy burst of snow tomorrow. we are going to go back and forth with rain before then right along the i-95 corridor. look at this. more than 6 inches, and in swarthmore, perhaps 5.6 inches. the inner-city could see 5 inches. the heaviest snow is going to be tomorrow in the afternoon for philadelphia and delaware county. let's go into the pennsylvania suburbs. tonight, you will see a snow mixed changing before dawn. heaviest will be in the afternoon. look at these numbers.
11:21 pm
we could see upwards of 10 inches of snow. let's go into northern delaware and into central delaware. cason could see 5.8 inches, delaware city, 3.2. you are going to see rain predawn. the heaviest snow will start to move in tomorrow in the afternoon, with high confidence, we could see that lehigh valley and berks county, you could see 12 inches. maybe a few areas higher. look at this. landon at 11.5 inches. it's going to be all snow in that area. finally, let's go out to the beaches. not much. we are going to see rain, perhaps a thunderstorm. this is a rain event. a quick burst of snow is what you will get and our final stop, south jersey, yes. you could see some accumulations in south jersey that could be mount laurel, 4.5 inches, you will see showers, rain, rain mix, and that heavy snow tomorrow afternoon that will move into your neighborhood . and it looks like the entire area, with the exception of the beaches, is going to be doing some shoveling. so, get ready for that.
